Working abroad on a party island is an experience like no other – the sun, the sea, the endless nights out, and the chance to meet people from all corners of the globe. However, as exciting as it is, there are some things I wish I knew before diving headfirst into my first season.
1. You’ll Probably Not Cook Much – Eat Out, Budget Well
I didn’t use my kitchen at all! Between the long shifts, late nights, and early mornings, eating out will quickly become a regular part of your routine. From 2 euro pizza slice at BJs to going out for family meals of the beach, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. However, eating out can add up quickly, so it’s crucial to budget accordingly so you don’t blow all your money eating out.
2. Take Care of Your Body
Your body won’t be used to partying, drinking, and staying out all day and night. It’s easy to get caught up in the high-energy atmosphere, but looking after yourself is key. Make sure you get enough rest, stay hydrated, and remember to eat properly, even if you’re tempted to skip meals or grab a quick snack on the go. Your body will thank you later, and you’ll avoid getting sick, the Zante cough is real!
3. It’s a great time to network
One of the best parts of working abroad on a party island is the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life. The season attracts workers from all over the world, and it’s a great chance to make new friends, build connections, and even network for future opportunities. You’ll meet fellow travellers, locals, and others in the industry, so take advantage of this opportunity to broaden your horizons and make friends from really cool places.
In Conclusion
Working abroad on a party island is an unforgettable experience, the season is short but intense! Budgeting wisely, taking care of your body, and making the most of your time, you’ll set yourself up for a successful and enjoyable season. So, whether you’re there for the sun, the parties, or the chance to meet new people, remember to look after yourself and enjoy the ride!
